A completed Distance/Distributed Learning Agreement (DDLA) may be required for new online course development and extensive revision of an existing online courses prior to the start of course development.
The DDLA is an agreement between a faculty course developer and the university that establishes:
- The intellectual property rights of the instructional materials.
- Sharing rights to the final work, i.e, whether the course may be reused or assigned to other faculty to teach.
- The type and amount of compensation provided to develop the course.
Faculty members interested in offering a course in an online format should first discuss it with their department chair/school director and/or college dean, after which the course must be approved to be offered online through the academic unit’s established curricular process. Courses that are new to the KSU course catalog should follow the established curricular process on the Curriculum Services website.
For questions regarding the DDLA, faculty members can contact their department chair/school director or the Office of Faculty Affairs and/or an AAUP-KSU representative.
University support for new online course development or extensive revision of an existing online course can be requested via the service catalog.
