Best Practice for Citing Images in Canvas

Body

Once you've uploaded an image to Canvas, it is important to cite the image within the Canvas item where it appears. To do this, designate a portion of the text in the item to include:

  1. who created the image
  2. what type of Creative Commons license the image holds (if applicable)
  3. where the image originated

If the image has a Creative Commons license, you should provide a link to the license. Also, include a direct link to the website where the image was originally found. Make sure that the text specifying the image credit is smaller in size than the surrounding text so as not to distract from the rest of the content in the item. An example of a correctly cited image has been provided below:

Note: Images cited within Canvas items do not need to be included on the Course References document.
