Higher Education Opportunity Act
The Higher Education Opportunity Act requires that course textbook information be made available to students before they enroll in a course. This means that faculty are required to submit textbook orders to their KSU University Bookstore prior to the date that students register for courses. The University Bookstore will publish the textbook requirements with the course offerings so that students can plan their finances accordingly.
Note: If a textbook is NOT required, faculty need to report that to the bookstore as well. Textbook order due dates apply to all scheduled course durations within a given term, i.e. 15, 10, 8, 7, 5 wk courses.

To order textbooks, faculty should visit the Barnes & Noble College FacultyEnlight website to research and adopt textbooks that will then be available to students via the Kent State University bookstore. Faculty can search an extensive catalog of textbooks, including open educational resources, rental, and used books as well as the ability to customize course packs for greater savings opportunities.
Note: There may be instances when older editions of textbooks are not available and the publishers will want to substitute with a newer edition. In such instances, the bookstore will notify the faculty.
For assistance with textbook order issues, faculty should contact Lisa Albers (Kent campus) at lalbers1@kent.edu or Patrick Duff (Regional campuses) pduff@kent.edu.
