It is possible to add a shortcut to a KSO SharePoint folder to the OneDrive application to easily find and work with files without having to access the KSO SharePoint site. The shortcut folder(s) will appear in your personal 'OneDrive - Kent State University' folder located on your computer's hard drive.
Note: The OneDrive application must be installed on your computer, and you must be signed into your KSU account, using your KSU FlashLine credentials. Selecting which shared folders are synced to your computer can be adjusted in the OneDrive application settings.
Step 1. Select a Folder in KSO SharePoint
Navigate to the folder in KSO SharePoint that contains the files you need to access. Best practice is to create a shortcut directly to the specific folder that contains the files, rather than creating a shortcut to a parent folder which may contain multiple other folders that you do NOT need access to. Even if this means creating several shortcuts to specific folders.
For example, if you need access to a specific course development folder in the 'Archived Course Materials' folder, create one or more link(s) to the specific folder(s) only when you need to work with them versus creating a link to the entire 'Archived Course Materials' which may result in very bad and unintended consequences.
DO NOT create a shortcut to the entire KSO SharePoint library or any other parent folders on the root of the KSO SharePoint site, this will result in extremely long sync times, the potential to inadvertently delete large amounts of data, or cause OneDrive to get stuck in a synch loop due to very long file path names. If you are unsure what to sync, contact a KSO SharePoint site admin for assistance.
