University Policy Regarding Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility


Policy Statement

It is the policy of the university to make its electronic and information technologies, accessible to all students, prospective students, employees, guests and visitors with disabilities, particularly those with visual, hearing, or manual impairments or who otherwise require the use of assistive technology to access information provided through the university’s electronic and information technologies.

Definitions

Electronic and information technologies shall include all information provided through the university’s website, online learning and course management systems, and curriculum, institutional and administrative data systems.

Scope

This policy shall apply to all staff, faculty, and third parties providing EIT to or on behalf of the university.

Requirements

All electronic and information technologies shall comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. Section 794, and its implementing regulation at 34 C.F.R. Part 104, and the Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, 42 U.S.C. Section 12131 et seq., and its implementing regulation at 28 C.F.R. Part 35. I

Implementation

The vice president for student affairs, the vice president for information services and the provost will be responsible for implementing this policy pursuant to a phased-in implementation schedule. Compliance with this policy will be prioritized based on academic, research and administrative needs, resource constraints and technology limitations.
