Beginning Fall 2016 semester, Kent State University will be implementing changes in the midterm evaluation policy.
The first change to the midterm evaluation policy addresses who receives a midterm grade.
- Previously, only freshmen with fewer than 30 credit hours were provided midterm grades on their academic progress. This meant that, in some classes, some students received grades, and others did not. It also meant that, because so many of the entering freshmen had already obtained 29 credit hours, some freshmen did not receive progress reports. Midterm grades will now be required in fall and spring semesters for all students in ALL lower-division courses (levels 00000, 10000, and 20000) scheduled in the full 15-week standard term.
The second change addresses when midterm grading is available.
- Previously, midterm grades were due by the end of the 7th week of a standard 15-week term, giving students little time to change their study behavior, if necessary. The midterm evaluation policy now allows midterm grades to be entered any time between weeks four and seven of the standard term so that students receive feedback on their progress earlier.
