Converting your narrated PowerPoint into a video file suitable for upload to Kaltura is a relatively simple process on a PC.
Step 1: Ensure that your presentation is ready for conversion.
Drag audio files off to the side of each slide and make sure that your narration sounds clear. Once you are satisfied with how your presentation looks, click File.
Step 2: Save as .mp4.
When the file menu opens, browse to where you would like to save your finalized video file, select Save As and change the file type from PowerPoint Presentation to MPEG 4 Video (.mp4). After your selection has been made, click Save.
Step 3: Finalize your video.
Once you have initiated the conversion process, PowerPoint will send you back to your presentation where you will see a bar at the bottom of the screen indicating how the conversion process is progressing.
Note: at this point, PowerPoint must remain open until the conversion is finished, otherwise you will receive a message asking if you wish to abort the process.
It is also important to note that the longer the narrated PowerPoint, the more time it will take to convert.
Step 4: Upload and Check the Video in Kaltura
Once uploaded the video should play correctly with the audio in time with each slide. If it does not, adjust the playback settings on each audio file to start automatically. Select the audio file, choose Playback from the top navigation, and adjust the Start dropdown to Automatically.
